Dennis Rader, 60, discussed his crimes - which took about an hour to describe to the court - in an emotionless, matter-of-fact manner.

B.T.K. Admits Everything

Hours before his trial was to start, Dennis Rader admitted today that he was the notorious B.T.K. serial killer who terrorized Wichita, Kan., for decades and eluded capture for 31 years. Mr. Rader discussed his crimes - which took about an hour to describe to the court - in an emotionless, matter-of-fact manner. And we're supposed to be suprised?

Iran to Reform?

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- The winner of Iran's presidential election, whose landslide victory dealt a setback to reformers, said Saturday he seeks to make his country a ''modern, advanced, powerful, and Islamic'' model for the world. But with the Ayatollah, who can overrule any elected official, is there even a point to have a President or a government for that matter. Either way, Iran wouldn't exactly qualify as modern or advanced. Power... they're a little light on that too. They are Islamic, however, we'll give them that one.

Italy Sides With Terrorism

MILAN, June 24 - An Italian judge has ordered the arrest of 13 operatives of the Central Intelligence Agency accused of kidnapping an Egyptian cleric on a Milan street two years ago and sending him to a prison in Egypt for questioning, Italian prosecutors and investigators said today.
But a second senior Italian investigator speculated that it was possible that the Italian government had approved the operation because the C.I.A. operatives had operated openly and without apparent concern that their activities might be detected.

Shouldn't we just go to war with Italy? That would solve this matter in a few days.

Former Klansman Guilty of Manslaughter in 1964 Deaths

The Real Problem

I was recently asked what my opinions were on the Guantanamo Bay issue. Funny, I don't consider it an issue. As long as Democrats keep focusing on what's least important just to get a rise out of the liberal media, we might as well be fighting for nothing. You know, Democrats are approxamately half the country. Without their unanimous support, these initiatives and other measures will turn into their own self-fufilling prophecies. Iraq cannot be won without the support of more Americans. Guantanamo will remain a place of indefinate holding without the support of more Americans, and freedom will spread alot slower without the support of more Americans. The real issue at hand here is not whether Bush's or the Republican's plans will succeed;the true concern is whether Democrats will one day help us instead of fight us. If something goes wrong in the Republican agenda, it's not like the other side was right... just that they would never help correct any problems (bitching doesn't count). With both sides working together, alot of problems might work themselves out. It's almost pointless for me to be writing, however. It isn't like anyone important will read this and/or do something about it. No one wants to actually do anything, we all just want to sit here and talk about it. We're so brilliant aren't we?

Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack (would you shake his hand?)

Iowa Governor to let Felons Vote

Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa announced yesterday that he would restore voting rights for all felons who have completed their sentences, ending what advocates for voting rights had called one of the most restrictive disenfranchisement laws in the country. Funny, I wonder which party ex convicts would support more. Right, the one that helps them commit their crimes. This is one subject that liberals could never argue against. It's a simple fact. Criminals are Democrats and most Democrats, I would say, are criminals.

Every state except for Maine and Vermont (Democratic strongholds) prohibits felons from voting for some period after their convictions, but the states vary in how and when they restore voting privileges.

Master Fraud?

Mastercard Fumbles... Loses the Ball

MasterCard International has reported that more than 40 million credit card accounts of various shapes and sizes might have been exposed to fraud via a computer security breech at a payment processing company. All we can do is sit back, and say "wow". 40 million is a rather large number. That's an eighth of the American population. This is comming in at a time when just about every other company is losing confidential data tapes and private customer information. However, this could very well be the biggest case of stolen data to date. (tounge twister?)
MasterCard said its analysts and law enforcement officials had identified a pattern of fraudulent charges that were traced to an intrusion at CardSystems Solutions of Tucson, Ariz., which processes more than $15 billion in payments for small to midsize merchants and financial institutions each year.

It's nice to know we can trust you, MasterCard.

Arlene says "Just Kidding"

As residents all over the Gulf Coast prepared for the worst one week ago, observers and forecasters alike kept a close eye on what could have been the first named Hurricane of 2005. Tropical Storm Arlene instead decided to dissipate rather swiftly after making landfall. Dropping less than six inches of rain, Arlene flooded some roads and caused power outages over much of Florida affecting around 11,000 customers. One person died in Miami Beach because of high surf. (Don't tell me they weren't warned.... very tragic).
Nevertheless, people eveidently overreacted but this shouldn't be too suprising after what happened last year. Arlene began producing 70 mph winds as it approached the Florida panhandle. Had it kept increasing, things could have been a bit worse. A hurricane is defined as having 74 mph winds or greater; and as a friend once reminded me, "who made it 74?"

Jackson leaving the courthouse after the verdict was read.

Michael Jackson Found Not Guilty

The headline pretty much wraps up this story. There really is no spin to put on it. Twelve members of a jury unanimously found Michael Jackson not guilty on all ten counts he was charged with. The charges ranged from providing alcohol to a minor to child molestation. Jackson has long been saying that he is the victim of "mother and son con artists and a prosecutor with a vendetta". At no other time, has this seemed more appearant. I truly believe that its very possible that Michael Jackson did nothing wrong with children although he never looked entirely innocent. At one point, I even believed that there was no way he's getting out of this. I was completely wrong. I can only hope that Americans continue to have faith in their criminal justice system and learn to leave the acquitted alone.

A lifeguard puts up a warning in Pensacola Beach, FL

Doesn't look too organized....... yet!

Arlene Knocking On Our Door

Tropical Storm Arlene, which quickly formed in the Caribbean, is approaching the U.S. mainland. The storm now has winds at 65 miles per hour and the low pressure associated with it is decreasing. This of course means that Arlene is going to strengthen somewhat before land fall. Whether it will be a hurricane or not is anyones guess. I just wish I had the money to go down to the Gulf and ride out the storm. I think it would be quite an experience. Anyone who wants to complain about it should simply move.

Think it's a little early for hurricanes? It is. Since 1900, only 8 percent of seasons have produced a hurricane up until June 10. (Thanks Tom).

Even back in Yale, Bush was poised for the Presidency

No comment needed

Kerry Releases Bad Grades

WASHINGTON -- During last year's presidential campaign, John F. Kerry was the candidate often portrayed as intellectual and complex, while George W. Bush was the populist who mangled his sentences. But newly released records show that Bush and Kerry had a virtually identical grade average at Yale University four decades ago. In 1999, The New Yorker published a transcript indicating that Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years at Yale and a roughly similar average under a non-numerical rating system during his senior year. Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D's in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years.

The funniest part is how is best average was 79 and that was for French class!

Meanwhile, Democrats are stunned that they're candidate wasn't as bright as they thought.
I can already hear the Bush intellectual jokes diminishing.

Right or Wrong?

State's Rights Go Up In Smoke

WASHINGTON -- Anyone who lights up a joint for medicinal purposes isn't likely to be pursued by federal authorities, despite a Supreme Court ruling that these marijuana users could face federal charges, people on both sides of the issue say.
The Supreme Court delt a blow to medical marijuana users by striking down a court of appeals opinion on the regulation and use of the drug... so what's the big deal here? Well, it really doesn't have to do with marijuana at all. The fact is that the Supreme Court just allowed for the federal government to interfere with virtually anything in the U.S. State laws are subsequently retracted and cut off.

Justice Clarence Thomas stated it best; that the respondents in the case use marijuana that has never been bought or sold, doesn't cross state lines, and that has had no demonstrable effect on the national market for marijuana. "If Congress can regulate this under the commerce clause, then it can regulate virtually anything- and the Federal Government is no longer one of the limited and enumerated powers."

Red Tide

Invaders

Red Tide Moves In

A toxic algae bloom off the coast of New England waters has led state officials to close shellfish beds between Maine and Cape Cod "so that people do not eat infected clams, mussels, oysters and scallops."(NYTimes). I think God is just trying to let people know that he never intended us to eat from the sea. This particular red tide does not affect lobsters or shrimp..... damn!

If this happened in Japan, would the whole country starve? Just kidding. Seafood is disgusting though.

Afghans learn to use radios

Holy Koran!

Okay, so now, the U.S. military has determined that there were some cases of guards at Guantanamo Bay mishandling the Koran. The Pentagon has set up an inquiry which found that guards or interrogators "kicked, stepped on and splashed urine on the Koran, in some cases intentionally but in others by accident" (NYTimes). In one incident, a guard urinated near an air vent and the wind "blew his urine through the vent into a detainee's cell".... I'm sure that was an accident.

Great, so now, more riots will be started and more innocent people will be killed. Maybe some Bibles will get burned too, who knows? Anything goes with radical Muslims. Here's the big question though.... did someone really manage to flush a Koran down a toilet as first reported a few weeks ago? Because that's truly amazing!

The Dutch prime minister, Jan Peter Balkenende, speaking on television on Wednesday, expressed disappointment with the referendum results.

France and the Netherlands Brighten Up

BERLIN, June 1 - Some are calling it a divorce; others, a disenchantment. Whatever you call it, the French "non" on Sunday and the Dutch "nee" on Wednesday have clearly left the European Union's proposed constitution a dead letter for now, frustrating the efforts of Europe's leaders to move to the next stage of integration.

The reasons behind the NO's may be political but nevertheless, Europe will be better off. Especially if the entire European Union dismantles. Democrats would cry.
