Is Syria Gaining Some Sense?

Probably not. Apperantly, President Bashar al-Assad plans to call parliament into session on Saturday to possibly talk of troop withdrawl from Lebanon. This was reported by the official Syrian press agency, SANA. This comming amid growing international as well as local pressure on Mr. al-Assad's government. Whether this is just another Syrian ploy or the real thing could have much effect on relations within the Middle East. Of coarse, the United States is calling for Syria to withdrawl from Lebanon and so is an unlikely supporter.... France. Syria began plans to withdrawl almost fifteen years ago. What has changed in that time isn't quite clear to me yet. Perhaps Syria will one day try and call Lebanon its own. It wouldn't suprise me.
